Description

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

What Melania wants, Melania gets.

The former director of special events at Vogue and producer of nine legendary Met Galas, Stephanie Winston Wolkoff met Melania Knauss in 2003 and had a front row seat to the transformation of Donald Trump’s then girlfriend from a rough-cut gem to a precious diamond. As their friendship deepened over lunches at Manhattan hot spots, black-tie parties, and giggle sessions in the penthouse at Trump Tower, Wolkoff watched the newest Mrs. Trump raise her son, Barron, and manage her highly scrutinized marriage.

After Trump won the 2016 election, Wolkoff was recruited to help produce the 58th Presidential Inauguration and to become the First Lady’s trusted advisor. Melania put Wolkoff in charge of hiring her staff, organizing her events, helping her write speeches, and creating her debut initiatives. Then it all fell apart when she was made the scapegoat for inauguration finance irregularities. Melania could have defended her innocent friend and confidant, but she stood by her man, knowing full well who was really to blame. The betrayal nearly destroyed Wolkoff.

In this candid and emotional memoir, Stephanie Winston Wolkoff takes you into Trump Tower and the White House to tell the funny, thrilling, and heartbreaking story of her intimate friendship with one of the most famous women in the world, a woman few people truly understand.

How did Melania react to the Access Hollywood tape and her husband’s affair with Stormy Daniels? Does she get along well with Ivanka? Why did she wear that jacket with “I really don’t care, do u?” printed on the back? Is Melania happy being First Lady? And what really happened with the inauguration’s funding of $107 million? Wolkoff has some ideas...

Page turner and informative. Proved all my suspicions about Melanie.

It’s painful to read. Ms. Wilcox never seemed to move beyond wanting to be friends with the cool girl in high school. I appreciate the need to get it off her chest, but honestly, everyone knows, and knew then, that everything the Trumps touch withers. If you cannot recognize Melania’s cold imperialism even from a distance, there is not much hope for being warned. I feel sorry for her. Most of caught on early that the cool girls weren’t worth the time.
  • I do not like Melania, but I also do not like a friend turned foe

I will not purchase nor read this book. I do not like Melania and I certainly do not like her husband. However, I also cannot stand someone who has become jealous and turned against a former “friend” and then writes a book gushing all secrets about said “friend”. Where do we draw the line people? When do we go back to being a community garned in love, hope, faith, trust, and equality? It certainly does not start here. #BidenHarrisToEndThisNightmare and all of the crabs trying to gain infamous statuses off of the clown’s presidency. In the words of my crews worldwide, Girl Bye.

  • Lessons hard learned and well written

The Author recounts her personal experience in learning the painful lesson that being complicit to cruelty can easily make you a victim of that cruelty. It’s well written and easy read with the result being you see lying beneath the selfish, cruel Trump exterior - there is a layer of even more toxic selfish, cruel ignorance. Like a rotten onion....... which makes you want to both cry and vomit. Considering the author worked in the fashion world (not known for being a particularly kind, trustworthy or positive environment) and THEN went on to write the memoir of the worst years of her life AFTER leaving to work at the White House - that’s saying something.

Stephanie Wolkoff is very whiney and a real doormat. It can sometimes be difficult to read while you are screaming at Stephanie to get the hell out of there! I spent a whole lot of time cringing at the way she allowed herself to be walked all over. But it was very compelling watching how horrible Melania and the rest of the group are! Worth the read just for that part of it.

The author was on board for the same reason everyone is around the Trumps and it backfired. No one is that stupid!

By way of clear and concise examples, Stephanie provides solid evidence of the unrelentingly abhorrent behavior of each Trump she had years of interactions with. Stephanie’s unwavering accuracy proves her to be more than just a reliable source of the horrifying truth, that each Trump is as despicable as they display themselves to be, but a principled witness to the unprincipled world of the Trumps...’a despicable Trump is a despicable Trump is a despicable Trump!’
