Much too narrative to point of boring. Can skip pages and not miss a thing.
  • Good book, but THIRD in trilogy

    By Greggifer
The book itself is well written and has an interesting plot, but I always had a feeling like there was a backstory I wasn't privy to. Then, when I had finished and read a note from the authors - the answer was revealed to me. This was the THIRD story in a trilogy. As opposed to warning the consumer ahead of time, and possibly getting three sales - now, I've just finished a book feeling less-than-satisfied. No knock on the authors here - I'd give the book 4.5 stars if I'd had the backstory from the previous two books. But I certainly can't go back and read them now that I know how the trilogy concludes! Whoever describes/composes the descriptions in the iBook store should have added the fact that this was a trilogy to the description. Anyways, just wanted to save someone else the trouble - go back and buy the first two books before reading this one. I wish there had been some kind of warning for me. Sincerely, A somewhat frustrated consumer

Main plot is silly; sub plots are sillier! Aloysius deserves better than this.

I love fast- paced well written novels. This was the third of the series and although each can stand alone, this one wrapped up the ends leaving only one question dangling. A great read.

    Entertaining, but an unrealistic.

It was an extremely lucky day that I first discovered the tales of Aloysious Pendergast
  • Another Solid Book....

    By boondocksaints
Pendergast is among my favorite series (along with Lincoln Rhyme and Harry Bosch). His odd mannerisms and unorthodox style are fun to read, but over the last few books he's been "off" what with the storyline involving his wife, Helen. Preston and Child have this character down well and his background has been fleshed out nicely over the last few titles, even though the books have been slightly different than "Brimstone", "The Relic" and "The Cabinet of Curiosities". I look forward to Pendergast getting back to the cases we know from the earlier novels, but am glad to know his character better now.

Completely unbelievable, why couldn't I put it down?
  • Yet another great book by the team

Amazing, get's started a bit slow but by the end you're in an great story and I love being able to look up all the worlds using the iBook dictionary that I don't know!
